​Gay Couples
A gestational carrier is a woman who carries a baby to term and gives birth for another couple or person. In this arrangement, an egg donor is necessary because Texas law does not allow the use of traditional surrogacy. In other words, a woman may not donate her eggs and serve as a gestational carrier at the same time. Additionally, Texas law allows gestational carriage for married couples only.
IVF with donor sperm is a choice for lesbian couples or gay men with male infertility issues.
IVF with donor embryos gives another fertility option to single women or LGBT couples.

​Single Women or Lesbian Couples
Intrauterine insemination (IUI) or in vitro fertilization (IVF) may be an ideal treatment for lesbian couples or single females as long as they have viable eggs and can get pregnant with donor sperm. This may be either known sperm or from a sperm bank. Sperm is placed into the uterus through a painless catheter procedure. In-vitro means “in the lab” and has assisted reproductive technology for the past 30 years.
With reciprocal IVF, a female partner donates her eggs, which are fertilized with donor sperm. The embryos are transferred to the other female partner.
IVF with donor eggs gives women the opportunity to have a biological baby despite medical issues such as ovulatory dysfunction, premature menopause or advanced maternal age.
